Gangs of Wasseypur.. Keh Ke Leli.. Aur Main Fir Dene Jaunga :-)

            I still remember the day I went for Phir Hera Pheri and expected to laugh without caring about the other audiences who would be sitting around me. And the movie started off well, was moving to become something that I would have appreciated but the last scene of the movie made me so angry that I made it sure that I won't watch the 3rd part of the series. I was angry that how can a promising comical movie director- Priyadarshan end a movie in such a way that the whole fun of the movie gets trashed somewhere in your mind. But now, after coming out of Gangs of Wasseypur and remembering the last scene of the movie where it comes written "Picture abhi baaki hai..", I had a smile on my face and an eagerness to watch the second part like hell. This time I am angry on Director for making me wait for the second part of something that kept my heart with itself. :-) Not every one can divide a single movie in two parts flawlessly. Kudos to Anurag Kashyap. 

             "Gangs of Wasseypur" is a story of revenge that keeps on passing to different generations. Now, many of you may say what's so great about the story line when it has something that Agneepath, Hathyar and Rakht Charitra also had. Some thing is known as "Treatment" to the story and to make it in your own way such that you feel it's a unique story line and it has nothing to do with the story line seen before. And that's what Anurag Kashyap does with every movie of his. He cannot form something that is out of this world, he has to take a story from the incidents happening on our planet, but to present it in a way that it looks as if you never saw it before is what makes Anurag Kashyap stand apart from other contemporary movie-directors. 

            As I don't want to waste my time in telling the basic story line, I am pasting what is written at Wikipedia- "Towards the end of colonial India, Sahid Khan loots the British trains, impersonating the legendary Sultana Daku. Now outcast, Shahid becomes a worker at Ramadhir Singh's colliery, only to spur a revenge battle that passes on to generations. At the turn of the decade, Shahid's son, the philandering Sardar Khan vows to get his father's honor back, becoming the most feared man of Wasseypur. Staying true to its real life influences, the film explores this revenge saga through the socio-political dynamic in erstwhile Bihar (North India), in the coal and scrap trade mafia of Wasseypur, through the imprudence of a place obsessed with mainstream 'Bollywood' cinema"

           The best part of the movie was its starcast. Not only Manoj Bajpayee steals the show but everyone is so perfect in the role that you can't imagine them as  Sophisticated celebrities in the real life. And that's what makes a movie experience better than reading about it in a Historical Fiction book. :-) The way Anurag Kashyap blends the songs in his movie such that the pace does not get slower and you enjoy- Song and movie both at the same time. A wonderful task. Even when the movie is about Males fighting with each other, you don't forget the ladies in the movie after coming out. Two wives of Manoj Bajpayee and the crush of his elder son- Huma Qureshi gets froze in your mind. The humor is something to look out for. North-Indian dialogues will make you laugh. Whenever any man of the story shares the screen space with his wife/crush, it'll make you feel embarrassed as they're really cheesy. Haha. And there isn't a plethora of abuses that people are talking of. 

            The major drawback of the movie is its length of 2 Hours 40 Minutes. Another is the first half an hour where all the characters with new faces are introduced and you feel like pulling your hair as you can't remember them easily. Movie is too intelligent so if you miss any 2 minutes in thinking about your office's deadline, college's pending assignment or how are you going to balance your Extra-marital affair, you will lose the fun later on. :-) Some dialogues are said in such a low volume that you end up missing it even when your 2000% concentration is on the movie. 

          Else, I am waiting for Gangs of Wasseypur Part-2 like hell. I just can't imagine how will I wait to watch the 2nd part as I want to know how will this Gang saga of Wasseypur ends. They have already covered 1940 to 2004 in this first part. And the characters of Part-2 are already introduced intellectually in the last half an hour of this part. So, that is going to be a Mind Blasting experience right from the first minute. :-) And Yeah, you will get to see the trailer of Part 2 while watching this one. 

         In the end, Anurag Kashyap ke Gangs of Wasseypur ne Keh ke Le Li.. Aur main fir apni dene jaunga Part 2 ke aane par.. :-)
